Lloyd Lee is a London-based architectural and portrait photographer.

He began photographing at thirteen after picking up his father’s camera, and the medium quickly became a way for him to understand space. Educated at the University of Edinburgh and the Architectural Association, and qualified as an architect in the United Kingdom, he approaches photography from the perspective of someone who has designed, inhabited, and studied architecture.

Lloyd’s architectural work examines how building elements acquire meaning through their relationships with surroundings, light, and use. Through his camera, he observes overlooked details, quiet interactions between people and space, and atmosphere, shaping these into images of restrained, unforced drama. This architectural sensibility has gradually informed his portrait practice, in which sitters are revealed through their relationship to spatial context or through carefully controlled light. For Lloyd, portraiture becomes a way of observing how a person is simultaneously concealed and unveiled by their surroundings.

Lloyd has worked with architects, artists, universities, and cultural institutions including MIT, UC Berkeley, ETH Zurich, the Seoul Hall of Architecture and Urbanism, Gilles Retsin, and Levent Ozruh. He has also collaborated with clients during the Venice Biennale, Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, London Design Week, and Milan Design Week to document their work. His photography has been exhibited and featured internationally, including by Venice Biennale 2025, Architects’ Journal, ArchDaily, Designboom, Parametric Architecture, VoxelMatters, and leading academic institutions.
